Post Turkey

I'm thankful for a lot of things. Too many too mention. I'm most thankful for my health and the people that keep me sane.

I do miss the insanity of life sometimes, living so sober. Lana del rey, my sweet queen, keeps me crazy.

Her new 10 minute long video ride is so great.

I'm just so thankful for her.

Obamanation

Well looks like we have another four years of President Obama, despite my efforts.
I use to be a very liberal democrate and I even teared up when Obama was originally elected into office.
However, the effects that the recession has had on me and my family has left me a bitter old woman.

It's not that I have a problem with Obama, I just don't see the change that we were promised. Hopefully this term will be more successful than the last.

The really winner of the election is CO.
My president is black and Colorado is green.
The prohibition of marijuana is becoming outdated. Finally America is taking a stand against a real issue.
If weed does become legal, all bets are off for me and recovery. #stonergirlproblems will be back in business.
Just kidding mom.

Hopefully the legalization of real mary jane will stop the production of synthetic marijuana, which is just disgusting stuff.

Costume Contest

I like to play dress up, what girl doesn't. This being said, I obviously adore Halloween. Aduh.

I didn't get to dress up to my full potential this year, so naturally I am already planning my costume for next years festivities.

After Facebook creeping nearly everyone I'm friends with, including those I actually talk to and those I just stalk, I have made a list of my favorite costumes this year.
I also got some awesome ideas from Pinterest.
As to not embarrass anyone (or to avoid getting yelled at by anyone for featuring them on my blog) I will be posting pictures of my favorite costumes from randos online, not people I know.
I would love to just put together a costume contest and not tell anyone, just post it, but I don't see that ending well. I digress,

Hurricane Halloween

Well Halloween 2012 is over. Or is it?

Sandy did more then just devastate this past week, it ruined a holiday.
This is just too much too handel.

I'm sure all you party animals did it up last weekend, as it was halloweekend. But even that is confusing as Halloween is on a Wednesday... so do you celebrate the weekend before or after? End of October or beginning of November? Or the entire week?
HALLOWEEK.

But for the kids, this halloween did not seem so fabulous, or so it seems. Honestly it's just all very confusing and I think I'm just going to turn into casually just turn into a fairy HALLOYEAR.
ok no, but anyway...
As I am not in #btv and I have no #phl social life, I went over to my younger cousins house to celebrate my favorite holiday with them. Turns out... no.

HALLOWEEN WAS POSTPONED. At least in Radnor township, and certainly in parts of New York and New Jersey.
Only Jack Skellington has the power to change Halloween.

In all seriousness though, my thoughts and prayers go out to those that have been affected by Sandy, in more aspects than just their Halloween.
I didn't have power for three days and there was barely any damage around my area. My dear friend @reetzthepeetz still has no power.
The damage that has been done to New Jersey and New York is going to take a long time to rebuild, and some parts, like the beloved boardwalks, will never be the same.

Fall Visit

This weekend I was in the lovely and beautiful btv.
Which was great. I got to see good people, share great times and be in my favorite town.

It always hard going back to a place you use to call home. It's like being a guest at your parents house.

I did check out the bar scene, which at 22 is still new to me...

I wish I was still there and not in Philadelphia, honestly.
I know I had to leave Burlington for good, because of factors that are out of my control. I'm still dealing with that. One of the hardest parts of visiting is knowing I will probably never live in Burlington ever again. It's not a safe environment for me and would for sure make me go back to my old ways.

Burlington will always be the same but things, and especially people, do change.
If you don't change your not growing. It's a part of life.

I wish I could put more into words how I feel about the whole situation but that's all I got.

Forever is an Awfully long time...

When I start to think about my life, I get overwhelmed.
One step at a time is key but that's not always at the forefront.

I think about drinking more than I wish I did on a daily basis.
Thinking that I'll never drink again is a really difficult concept for me.

It's not just the consuming alcohol I'm thinking about, it's the past, present and future.
I use to drink and make friends. Now, I don't drink and I haven't made many friends recently.

I still feel I'm in limbo land right now, and I'm digging my way out to new ground.

I don't always identify as an alcoholic, sometimes yes, but not always. I more see myself as having a medical condition that limits me and doesn't allow me to do everything I'd like.

I guess the key is what they all say.
One step at a time.

Next step?
See you this weekend my burly friends. :D
